The promoter of the postponed Billy Joel & Elton John “Face 2 Face” concert at HSBC Arena announced Wednesday that negotiations are ongoing to reschedule the show, but refunds are available for those who don’t want to wait.
While no makeup date has been confirmed, promoter Live Nation, Arena officials, and representatives for the artists remain engaged in negotiations for a new date, the promoter said in a release.
Ticketholders for the postponed July 24 concert are being asked “to retain their tickets while negotiations with the artists’ representatives continue, due to Billy Joel’s continued physical exhaustion.” The July 25 show in Albany was also postponed.
According to Live Nation’s Upstate New York Marketing Manager Donna Eichmeyer, “a tentative date for the rescheduled concert has been picked, and negotiations are under way, but nothing has been confirmed yet. There is a very real and genuine effort on the part of everyone involved to make the rescheduled Buffalo show happen. The original show sold very, very well.”
Meanwhile, anyone wanting a ticket refund can obtain one at the point of purchase, according to Live Nation. However, service charges paid for tickets purchased at a venue other than the HSBC Arena box office —which charges no service fees — are not refundable. According to a spokesperson for HSBC Arena, this is because the show may still be rescheduled.
Tickets purchased at Tickets. com outlets came with service charges based on the price paid for the ticket. There were three ticket prices, each with an exponentially larger service charge, which Tickets.com labels a “customer service fee.”
The most expensive tickets at $175 each came with a $15 fee; $97 tickets were charged an $11.10 fee; and $7.65 was added to each $49.50 ticket. None of these additional fees are refundable.
