Lee’s stance on health care reform is puzzling

Regarding The News article, “Trip to D. C. shows local urgency on health care,” I was the other lead spokesman in the meeting between Congressman Chris Lee and constituents from Western New York on June 24. Unlike other members of Congress who represent Western New York, Lee has no specific health care reform proposal or stand of his own. He just objects to us having the choice of our current insurance or a public insurance option like he already enjoys.
All Lee could tell us, when we saw him, was that he’s not for government being placed between us and our doctors. Curious that he tells reporter Jerry Zremski that he’s “never seen government run anything too efficiently.” If Lee feels this way, then why have we not heard or seen anything from him objecting to his own government-run congressional health insurance benefit —the Cadillac of Cadillacs? Perhaps he’s for government-run health care for himself, but against it only when it’s for the rest of us.
