NANUET(AP)—A spill from a tank truck carrying 3,500 gallons of chlorine shut down a street temporarily in a suburban New York condominium complex in Nanuet.
Nanuet authorities said the spill occurred about 10 a. m. Friday. No injuries were reported. No homes were immediately evacuated, but residents were asked to remain indoors until the area was cleaned up.
Fire officials said a problem with the truck’s hose and connector caused the accident.
They also said some of the chemical ran off into a nearby brook connected to the complex’s sewer system.
But officials said recent rain quickly diluted it.
Nanuet is in Rockland County, near the New Jersey state line.
