Terrell Owens' bid to find comfortable digs in Western New York is proving harder than expected.
Owens had a deal in place to lease a house in Orchard Park, but he canceled it Wednesday after some details of the agreement were revealed.
Owens himself had told fans on Tuesday via his Twitter page that he had found a place to live. However, he did not give any specifics about the deal.
The real estate agent with whom he was working, Maureen Flavin, acknowledged to media on Wednesday that Owens had leased a 4,500-square-foot, newly built home in Orchard Park. It was built by developer David Stapleton, and Owens was scheduled to take possession July 1.
"We found a fabulous place for him in Orchard Park," Flavin said.
However, after the story broke Owens said the deal was off. He had requested confidentiality about the contract.
"With the release of my potential rental at 34 Woodthrush [Terrace], I will not b renting due 2 the unprofessionalism of Maureen Flavin!," Owens said in a Twitter post to fans.
Flavin declined to comment after Owens' announcement.
Owens previously had messaged fans that, "I wanna thank ALL the people that opened up their homes in the WNY area to assist in finding me a place to stay this year with my new team."
Owens had previously revealed he was turned down from viewing one home, at least initially, because the owners didn't want any drama in their neighborhood. Owens took the matter in stride.
"I thought it was funny, but other than that, no big deal," he said after a Bills practice earlier this month.
Given the fact he signed a one-year contract with the Bills in March, Owens is looking to rent for the season rather than to buy a house. The Bills players have off until they must report to training camp. The team's first camp practice is July 25.
