Cindy Baumgartner and Stan Nowak are co-chairpersons of “An Evening of Romance,” the annual Polonaise Ball to be sponsored by Polish Arts Club of Buffalo on Oct. 17 in Westwood Country Club, Williamsville.

Cocktails at 6:30 p. m. will precede dinner. Music will be by the Greg Docenko Orchestra, and dancing will begin with the traditional polonaise. Strolling musicians will entertain during the social hour and dinner.

The cost is $65 for adults, $35 for students. Call 639-7543 for reservations.

Proceeds benefit the club’s scholarship fund. Eileen Koteras Elibol of WNED-TV will be mistress of ceremonies.

Women’s Associates of the Buffalo Power Squadron will have a dinner meeting at 6 p. m. Oct. 15 in the Buffalo Yacht Club, 1 Porter Ave. Nominations will be taken after dinner. For reservations, call Lillian Payen.

The group will have a fall foliage ride on the Arcade&Attica Railway at 2 p. m. Sunday. Dinner will follow at Chanderson restaurant. Lois Ganter is chairwoman of the event.

Daemen College Associates will present its 2009 Community Service Awards at noon Oct. 18 in the Brookfield Country Club, 5120 Shimerville Road, Clarence. Honorees are Jerald

M. Stoddard, M&TBank (retired); Kathleen Houlihan, Buffalo Public School District; Sister

M. Johnice, CSSF; and Frank Budwey, owner, Budwey’s Supermarkets.

Tickets are $37.50 per person; call Martha McMahon at 876-0781 by Friday for reservations.

St. Simon Episcopal Church, 200 Cazenovia St., will have its annual luncheon and theme basket raffle Nov. 7 from 10 a. m. to 3 p. m. Lunch will be served beginning at 11.

Niagara Sailing Club will have an Oktoberfest at 8 p. m. Oct. 18 in the clubhouse. Brian and Jill Atkinson, Tom and Linda Schultz, Ray and Laure Dan- Jumbo, and Ross and Sally Kaiser will be hosts.
