1. What happens when screaming saw meets wooden block?
Chain saw art! This weekend, watch the sawdust fly as masterpiece after masterpiece is created before your eyes at Old Sanborn Days. From 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. Saturday, and 11 a. m. to 5 p. m. Sunday, enjoy the charm of this old-fashioned country fair featuring craft booths and continuous entertainment. Find the fair at the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company on Buffalo Street (Route 429), not far from Saunders Settlement Road.
2. A Latinfest in Hamburg? You bet! Viva la tango and long live the taco from 5 to 8 p. m. Saturday at Wesleyan Church of Hamburg, 1449 McKinley Parkway. The celebration will showcase folk dance, a performance by singer Johnny Juarez and some tasty eats. Don’t miss the parade of flags representing 20 Latin nations. All this for free.
3. Calling all drummers. The Southtowns Drum Circle welcomes beginners and masters alike at 7 p. m. Saturday to join their circle, build rhythmic momentum and increase endorphin levels while decreasing stress. Bring extra drums or rhythm instruments to share. Bring a friend, too. 4. Discover the monster in you for $3. “Monsters vs. Aliens” hits the giant screen at 6:30 and 9 p. m. Friday and Saturday at the Riviera Theatre, 67 Webster St., North Tonawanda. Watch what happens when a meteorite hits a Californian, turning her into a giant monster.
