Witherington to lecture
New Testament scholar and author Ben Witherington III will lecture on “Transfigured: The Theology of Worship in Revelation” at 7:30 p. m. June 22 in the Center for the Arts Recital Hall of Houghton College in Houghton, Allegany County.
Witherington, who is the author of more than 30 books, including “The Jesus Quest,” is Amos professor of New Testament for doctoral studies at Asbury Theological Seminary.
He also will teach a course on “The Jesus of Film, Fantasy and Faith” from June 22 to 25.
Diocese gets grant
The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo’s office of parish life has received a $20,000 grant to fund a new parish-based evangelization program.
One rural parish, one small-town parish, two urban parishes and one suburban parish will participate in the pilot project, funded by a grant from Our Sunday Visitor Institute.
Father’s Day at True Bethel
True Bethel Baptist Church, 907 E. Ferry St., will offer a Southern traditional Father’s Day program at 6 p. m. next Saturday, featuring Power of Praise and the 100 Men in White Choir.
Music during the special service will feature the use of washboards, spoons, quartet singing and praise dancing. A nonperishable food collection will be taken.
Program for nurses
Niagara University’s nursing department and the Network of Religious Communities will sponsor a program entitled “Engaging in Interfaith Dialogue to Enhance Nurses’ Spiritual Awareness for Health Care” from 8:30 a. m. to 2:20 p. m. June 24 on the fourth floor of the university’s Vincent Hall.

Clarence church remodels
Clarence First Presbyterian Church, 9675 Main St., will bid farewell to its current sanctuary at 10 a. m. Sunday.
The congregation is set to begin worshipping in a new sanctuary on the same site late this month or early next month.
Refugee simulation set
Western New York Migration Ministries, a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York, along with Trinity United Methodist Church of Grand Island and Journey’s End Refugee Services, will conduct “A Refugee Experience,” a simulation day for youth and youngadults next Saturday at Trinity Church, 2100 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island.
