Shapedown, a national weight management program for children and teens that supports families in creating an active lifestyle and healthy diet, will be offered in eight sessions from Tuesday to March 31. The Alzheimer’s Association and DeGraff Adult Day Care will have a family support group meeting at 7 p. m. Wednesday in the day care center, 82 Mead St., North Tonawanda. Tips and techniques that will help make bathing a person with dementia easier will be discussed, along with ways to assist with dressing and grooming. For reservations, call 694-7662.

The Erie County Department of Senior Services will hold a six-week “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” program from 6 to 8:30 p. m. Mondays (March 2 to April 6) in Elderwood Village at Glenwood, 5271 Main St., Williamsville. Caregivers will learn how to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, locate helpful resources and balance their lives while taking care of a physically or mentally impaired relative or friend.

Cost is $25, but there is no charge for members of Independent Health or Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY. Additional classes are being scheduled; for information or for required registration, call 858-2177 or e-mail caregiver@erie.gov . •••
