Course on sacraments

“Revitalizing the Sacraments of Initiation,” an overview of the sacraments according to the latest documents of the Catholic Church, will be the topic of a 10-week continuing education course beginning Jan. 22 at Christ the King Seminary, 711 Knox Road, Aurora.

Specifically addressed will be baptism, confirmation and the Eucharist. The sessions, taught by the Rev. Charles Amico, run from 7 to 9 p. m. Thursdays. Call 655-7081 to register.

Rediscovery sessions

Rediscovery sessions will be offered at 10 a. m. Jan. 24 in the St. Christopher parish rectory meeting room, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd., Town of Tonawanda, for Catholics who have been away from the church for any length of time and for whatever reason.

New pastor named

The Rev. James Widmer, formerly of the Cleveland area, has been selected as pastor of Kenmore Baptist Church at Delaware and Wardman roads, and will preach at 11 a. m. worship Sunday.

Widmer received an undergraduate degree from Amherst College in Massachusetts, a master of divinity degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts and a doctor of ministry from Ashland Theological Seminary in Ohio.

Widmer previously led churches in Maine, Massachusetts and Ohio. He also has served as a member of the National Staff of American Baptist Churches USA’s World Mission Support and taught at Ashland Theological Seminary.

He and his wife, Cindy, will reside in Amherst.
