Consolidated Mass

SS. Peter & Paul Catholic parish in Depew and Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic parish in Lancaster will celebrate a consolidated Mass marking their pending merger at 10 a. m. Sunday.

The Mass will begin at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 86 Burlington Ave. Following the homily, the congregation will form a motorcade for a procession to the new home of the combined parishes, Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 158 Laverack Ave., where the Mass will continue.

A reception will follow in the school hall.

‘Come and See’

“Getting through Christmas” will be the theme of a “Come and See” session with the Rev. Robert Gebhard at 7:30 p. m. Thursday in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 1317 Eggert Road.

Gebhard will offer words of encouragement for people dreading the holiday season because of a death, divorce, illness, parish closing, financial problems and other difficulty in life.

Healing Mass set

Blessed Sacrament Church, 263 Claremont Ave., Town of Tonawanda, will offer a holiday healing Mass at 7 p. m. Wednesday with the Rev. Don Lizzotti as celebrant.

Advent events

St. Ann Church and Shrine

on Broadway and Emslie Street will host two Advent events: a gospel Christmas concert featuring Roszella Lewis at 2 p. m. next Saturday and a special dramatization of the rosary at 2 p. m. Dec. 13.

The rosary portrayal will be performed by Quiet Waters.

Night of Prayer

The 19th annual Night of Prayer will be observed from 9 p. m. to 1 a. m. Dec. 8 and 9 in the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo.

Catholic parishes across the country, including 13 in the Buffalo diocese, will hold prayer services before the Blessed Sacrament in adoration and reparation for sins against the lives of the unborn and helpless.

Prayer service held

St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 500 Parker Ave., will offer an Advent Taize prayer service at 7 p. m. Dec. 11. The service features scripture readings, prayer, meditation and music.

Music program offered

An Advent/Christmas Evensong will be held at 3 p. m. Dec. 14 in Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral, 6298 Broadway, Lancaster, featuring the cathedral’s Harmonia, Choir, Bell Choir, contemporary folk ensemble, organist Nelson. J. Koeppel and soprano Emily Tworek-Helenbrook.

A free-will offering will be accepted. Call 685-5766 for details.
