Variety Club Women of Tent 7 will have its Thanksgiving luncheon at 11:30 a. m. Saturday in the American Legion Post 35, West Seneca. Food collected in the annual food drive will be donated to Loaves and Fishes Kitchen.
The club has elected officers for 2009: president, Kathy Kaminski; first vice president, Elizabeth Kuciel; second vice president, Mary Wren; correspondence secretary, Chris Semrau; treasurer, Charlean Willard, and recording secretary, Deborah Mondo. Elected to the board of directors were: Gerry Maraschiello, Marie Przepiora and Mary Orgek.

The Romulus Club will honor its past presidents at the club’s 75th anniversary gala that will be held on Saturday in Samuel’s Grande Manor, Clarence. Cocktails at 6 p. m. will precede dinner at 7 p. m. Dancing to the music of Formula Group will follow. Chairmen for the event are David Bellissimo and Peter LoJacono. For reservations, call 832-1040.
Proceeds will benefit the Romulus Charitable Foundation that has established scholarships for local high school students interested in Italian- American activities.

Chamberlin Loan Fund interest-free loans and Funds for Education grants are awarded twice a year by the Buffalo Branch of American Association of University Women to Western New York students — men and women — enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs at accredited colleges and universities. Awards are based on academic achievement and potential for achieving goals.
Dec. 1 is the deadline to apply for the current distribution of loans and funds for education grants. Applications are available at www.aauw.buffalo.edu or by writing to Chamberlin Loan-Funds for Education Chair, American Association of University Women Buffalo Branch, P. O. Box 397, Amherst, N. In the past two years, the branch has awarded $53,500 in interest-free loans and grants to 21 Western New York students.

The Clarence Women’s Club will hold a “December Holiday Evening” at 6 p. m. Dec. 1 in the Clarence Town Park Clubhouse. Entertainment will be by a quartet from the Buffalo Gateway Chorus. Former employees and management of AM&A’s department store will meet for a Christmas luncheon at noon Dec. 3 in Marinaccio’s Ristorante, 5877 Main St., Williamsville. Julia DiPasquale and Jim Loftus are chairmen for the event. Ms. DiPasquale, as Mrs. Claus, will greet guests.

Josie Panaro will be hostess at a meeting of Laureate Alpha Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi at 7:30 p. m. Dec. 3 in her Tonawanda home. Diane Poyfair will give a talk on Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara. Carole McDade is co-hostess.
Dec. 10, the group will have its Christmas Party and Secret Sister Exchange at 6:30 p. m. in the Hide Away Grill, North Tonawanda. Its service project is turkeys and canned goods to donate to Buffalo City Mission.

Women’s Club of the University at Buffalo will have its annual “Soup’s On” luncheon at 11:30 a. m. Dec. 4 in the Center for Tomorrow on the UB North Campus. Carmella Hanley and Mary Lou Mancusco are cochairs for the event. The menu will feature soups, desserts, eggnog and punch.
Poinsettias and wreaths that members and friends ordered earlier will be available to be picked up that day. Also for sale will be ornaments made by members of the club’s craft club. Proceeds from the poinsettia, wreath and ornament sales will benefit Grace Capen Academic Awards.
Dec. 5, the club will sponsor a holiday shopping extravaganza from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. in the Student Union lobby, North Campus. A wide variety of vendors and crafters will participate. The public is invited.
