Marino to be ordained

Deacon Robert Marino, a former design consultant, will be ordained to the Catholic priesthood by Bishop Edward

U. Kmiec at 10 a. m. today in St. Joseph Cathedral, 50 Franklin St.

The Camden, N. J., native attended St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, Fla., and Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora, where he earned a master’s degree in divinity.

He completed his summer ministry at St. Joseph Parish, North Tonawanda, and fulfilled his pastoral year assignment at St. Christopher Parish in the Town of Tonawanda.

Mass honors St. Paul

Bishop Edward U. Kmiec will celebrate a Mass in honor of St. Paul at 3 p. m. Sunday in St. Paul Church, Delaware Avenue and Victoria Boulevard, Kenmore.

The Mass is part of the jubilee year commemoration of the bimillennium of the birth of Paul the apostle.

Service of hope set

A service of hope for anyone struggling with loneliness, loss or depression as the holidays approach will be held at 3 p. m. Sunday in Williamsville United Methodist Church, 5681 Main St. For more information, visit www.williamsvilleumc.org or call 634-4800. Advent retreat

“Saying Yes, Saying No and Doing Good,” a Christmas Advent retreat, will be held from

9:30 a. m. to 2 p. m. today in the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 146 W. Utica St. at Delaware Avenue.

Speaker will be the Rev. Harry Pappas, associate professor of pastoral theology at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary.

Westminster series

The Case Library Conversation Series at Westminster Church, 724 Delaware Ave, presents a two-part series on Economic Development in Erie County and the City of Buffalo. Holly Sinnott will speak Sunday and Brian Reilly will talk Nov.

23. The programs run from 9:30 a. m. to 10:45 a. m. in the Case Library.

Wrobel is soloist

Soprano Mary Beth Wrobel will be featured in a benefit concert of the Nativity Bell Choir of Church of the Nativity, 1530 Colvin Ave., at 3 p. m. Sunday in the church. Tickets are $10; $5 for children under 12. Proceeds go to the purchase of new bell tables. Call 875-3365 for details.

Thanksgiving service

The annual Elma Community Thanksgiving Eve Service will be held at 7 p. m. Nov. 25 in Annunciation Catholic Church at Clinton and Schwartz Road, Elma.

The Rev. Daven Oskvig of Elma United Methodist Church will preach during the ecumenical service. Canned goods and a free-will offering will be accepted for FISH of East Aurora.
