Western New York Iris Society will meet at 10 a. m. Saturday in the Clarence Public Library, 3 Town Place, Clarence. New officers will be installed; 2008 iris awards presented, and 2009 show dates and meeting schedule discussed. New members welcome. For information, call 836-2573.

Western New York Hosta Society will hold its annual chili meeting from 1:30 to 4 p. m. Sunday at the East Aurora Senior Center, 101 King St. (corner of Oakwood), East Aurora. Kathy Sisson will give a virtual tour of Connecticut hosta gardens. Also planned: a hosta seed auction and “B-Movie” contest on geophytes, featuring daffodils to purchase.

Smallwood Garden Club will meet at 7 p. m. Monday at Forest Elementary School, 250 North Forest Road, Williamsville. Joe DiDomenico, president of the Niagara Frontier Orchid Society, will discuss orchids grown at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens and offer advice on how to grow orchids in your own home. Public welcome.

Cheektowaga Garden Club will meet at 7 p. m. Tuesday at the Cleveland Hill High School faculty lunchroom, on Mapleview Drive. Members will make fresh-flower cornucopia centerpieces under the direction of Brad White. Holiday party reservations will be accepted.

The Western New York Rose Society will meet at 7 pm. Wednesday at St. Stephen’s Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 750 Wehrle Drive, Amherst (near Union Road).
