The First Annual October Surprise anniversary party will be held Sunday from 7 to 10 p. m. at J. P. Bullfeathers, 1010 Elmwood Ave. The event will feature celebrity bartenders, a live carving demonstration by artist Rick Pratt, food stations, and a silent auction featuring small items made from the trees felled in the October 2006 storm.

Tickets, available at Bullfeathers, are $25 each. Proceeds benefit Carvings for a Cause, an organization that aims to enhance the beauty of Western New York by planting trees.

Pro-To Club of Buffalo will have a luncheon meeting at 11 a. m. Monday at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center, Amherst. President Gloria P. Pfohl will introduce new committee chairpersons for the year. Marge Thielman Hastreiter from the Iron Island Preservation Society will talk about the history of the Buffalo’s Lovejoy area.

The touring 51st annual Ebony Fashion Fair “The Runway Report: What’s Hip. What’s Hot. What’s Now!” will bring a new generation of models and designer wear to Western New York at 8 p. m. Oct. 17 in the Buffalo Hyatt Regency.

Proceeds will benefit the Buffalo Chapter of the Links Inc., an organization that provides scholarships to local college-bound high school graduates. Cecelia Henderson of the Buffalo chapter is the local chairwoman of the show.

Models will show the latest styles offered by more than 75 designers from around the world, such as Christian LaCroix, Marc Bouwer, Jutta Nordheim, Gless Montezin, Missioni, Sarli Dior, Oscar de la Renta, Emmanuel Ungaro, Luca Luca and Jean Louis Scherrer. One of this season’s fashion trends is a reinvention of the 1980s Grungo/Boho look, with hip, remixed designs of layers of luxurious fabrics, and street-cool head gear.

The Association of Italian American Women will have a fashion show at 11:30 a. m. Oct. 19 at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens, Lancaster. The event will benefit the Margaret Lombardi Scholarship Fund. For ticket information call 834-8497.

Katharine Pratt Horton Buffalo Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Buffalo Federation of Women’s clubs will hold a memorial dedication ceremony of trees planted at the gravesite of Katharine Pratt Horton at 10 a. m. Saturday in Forest Lawn, Main Street entrance. A tour of the cemetery and box lunch will follow.

On Oct. 20 there will be a board meeting at 10 a. m. in the chapter house, followed by a general meeting at noon, lunch, and a tour of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Buffalo Federation of Women’s Clubs will have a luncheon Oct. 23 at 12:15 p. m. in Protocol Restaurant, Williamsville. The general meeting will begin at 10:30 a. m. Julia Di- Pasquale, a former advertising agent for AM&A’s, will give a talk on the history of the department store. Members are encouraged to wear their native outfits for the Parade of International Dress. For reservations, phone Terry at 683-1621 by next Thursday.

On Oct. 22 at 2 p. m., the federation will hear a Lillian Fairchild travel talk at the Buffalo Museum of Science.
