Kevin O’Leary, president of Parkview Health Services, and his wife, Janet, a founding member of the Claudia Garvey Memorial Guild for the Kevin Guest House, are chairs of the 10th Annual Heartlight Gala to benefit Child and Family Services at 6:30 p. m. Oct. 17 in Kleinhans Music Hall.
In keeping with the event theme of “Divermento,” the entertainment will include a variety of musicians ranging from Ensemble Saltarello, a mixed consort of guitars led by Joanne Castellani; the Buffalo State Jazz Quartet, and pianist/singer Theresa Quinn, who will lead guests in a fun competition with Name that Tune.
Scott Levin, a news anchor at WGRZ-TV Channel 2, will be master of ceremonies. Tickets are $145 each and may be obtained by calling 335-7234.
Since its inception, Heartlight has raised more than $750,000 for programs that serve local children and families.

Seton Guild of Buffalo, Sheehan Memorial Hospital, will have its fall bridge luncheon Tuesday in the Twentieth Century Club, starting at 10:30 a. m., with lunch at 1 p. m. Mary Kloepfer is chairwoman and Mary Frances Offermann is co-chair.
The guild will have a membership luncheon at noon Oct. 24 at Canterbury Woods. Mary Ann Scherer is chairwoman and Barbara Murphy is co-chair.

The Knights of Equity and its auxiliary, Daughters of Erin, Court 5, will host the 180th national convention Oct. 9 to 11 at the Buffalo Hyatt Regency. Ellen McGraw Kuehlewind of Buffalo, national Daughters of Erin president, will preside. She will be assisted by Vice President Michelle Stein of Pittsburgh, and Secretary Mary Ann Riedy and Treasurer Robin Messenger, both of Buffalo.
Jack Quinn, president of Erie Community College, will be the speaker at a banquet Oct. 11 when new officers are installed. They are: worthy supreme sir knight, Richard Bruning; supreme treasurer, James Boyle, and supreme secretary, Gary Hozerland, all of Buffalo.

Hockey Hall of Fame member and former Buffalo Sabres coach Scotty Bowman will be the keynote speaker at “The Miracle of Friendship,” the 10th annual fundraising gala of Compeer of Greater Buffalo.
The gala will be begin at 5 p. m. Oct. 10 at the Buffalo Convention Center with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Dinner, awards and a live auction follow at 7:30 p. m.
Larry Playfair, president of the Buffalo Sabres Alumni Association, will accept the Spirit of Compeer Award on behalf of the association. The Walsh family, from Walsh Insurance Group, will be honored with the Western New York Vision Award.

Eastern Erie Retired Teachers Association will have its fall luncheon and meeting beginning at 11:15 a. m. Tuesday in the Columns, Elma. Don Orton from Springville will give a presentation about “The Great Race,” which has ties to Springville. Members are asked to bring kid-friendly nonperishable food, paper products and health aids that will be donated to FISH of East Aurora.

The Orchard Park Women’s Club will have a meeting at noon Wednesday in the Orchard Park Municipal Building. Orchard Park Town Clerk Janet Collaruso will be the guest speaker.
The group’s fall scholarship fundraiser luncheon will be held Nov. 1 in Columns Banquet Hall, Elma.

Elma Meadows Women’s Golf Club will close its season at a dinner next Thursday in Lucarelli’s Banquet Center, Lackawanna, starting at 6 p. m. with cocktails. Dinner will be served at 7. There will be presentation of awards and introduction of newly elected board members. Chairwoman Mary Lou Athans will be assisted by co-chair Valerie Paryz.

Women’s Golf Association of Springville Country Club will have its season-closing brunch following a general meeting at 10 a. m. Saturday in the clubhouse. A round of Goofy Golf will be played after brunch.
Awards and prizes will be presented for birdies, ringers, president’s cup, most improved golfer, and holes-in- one awards. Gail Maurer and Mary Stuart are co-chairwomen.
