Clarification July 7

In a story on the Gus Macker Basketball Tournament in Buffalo published by The Buffalo News on June 29, a participant was quoted as saying the Sport Court used for the main court playing surface became slippery in the rain. Sport Court is a trademark brand of Connor Sport Court International, and it was not the surface used for the Gus Macker. (Updated: 07/08/09 12:21 PM )

Melody Fair showman Lew Fisher’s name was misspelled in a story Thursday about Buffalo’s “Cultural Walk of Fame.” (Updated: 07/08/09 12:25 PM )

Clarification June 26

A Tuesday story reporting on endorsements made by the Working Families Party referred only to candidates for major offices in Erie County — all Democrats. Working Families did endorse candidates from other parties for local offices. Also, the party is correctly identified as the Working Families Party of Western New York. (Updated: 07/08/09 12:25 PM )

Corrections June 25

David Lacki recently left his position as vice president of tourism at the Buffalo Niagara Convention and Visitors Bureau to become president and CEO of the Lower Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce. His name was spelled incorrectly in a story in Wednesday’s Business Today section. (Updated: 07/08/09 12:26 PM )

In Jeff Simon’s column Tuesday in the Life & Arts section, a famous on-air temper tantrum was attributed incorrectly. Frank Reynolds was the TV anchor who threw a tantrum while reporting the breaking news of the Ronald Reagan assassination attempt in 1981. (Updated: 07/08/09 12:26 PM )

A house on Soldiers Place in Buffalo bought by the Canadian government recently was last sold in 1979. It has 5,502 square feet of space on three floors and was built in 1905. Information from the Web site Zillow.com used in a story about the house in Thursday’s editions was incorrect. (Updated: 07/08/09 12:29 PM )

Corrections June 17

An article Friday about various reform measures in the Erie County Legislature wrongly described proposals to institute term limits. The County Legislature’s three Republicans propose limiting all county elected officials to no more than eight years in office. Democratic Legislators Michele M. Iannello of Kenmore and Kathy Konst of Lancaster propose giving county lawmakers four-year terms but limiting a legislator’s service to 12 years. (Updated: 07/08/09 12:29 PM )

Village of North Collins officials are planning to conduct a feasibility study of a proposal to dissolve the village. A story Thursday incorrectly reported that residents had already voted to dissolve the village. (Updated: 07/08/09 12:30 PM )

A recent article in Life&Arts about “The Color Purple” incorrectly stated that Buffalo-born actor Jesse Martin starred in the original Broadway production of the musical. Martin was part of the show’s earlier workshops but did not go on to the Broadway production. (Updated: 07/08/09 12:31 PM )

Clarification June 12

The hours for Rooster’s Cafe, 93 Ridge Road, Lackawanna, have changed since information was gathered for a recent “Cheap Eats” column. Rooster’s is now open on Mondays from 5 a. m. to 2 p. m.; on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5 a. m. to 3 p. m.; on Thursdays from 5 a. m. to 4 p. m.; on Fridays from 5 a. m. to 5 p. m.; on Saturdays from 5 a. m. to 1 p. m.; and on Sundays from 6 a. m. to noon. Erie County Legislator Timothy M. Kennedy, D-Buffalo, says reducing the Legislature from 15 to 11 members would save $4 million over 10 years. The amount was incorrect in Sunday’s paper. (Updated: 07/08/09 12:32 PM )

Corrections June 9

Due to a computer programming error by a software vendor hired by Niagara County, the real estate transactions from Niagara County that have appeared on Mondays since Feb. 23 have been reversed. The buyers have been listed as the sellers, and vice versa. These listings contained transactions from the first week of January through May 8. This problem has been corrected for future listings.
